The Adventures of Pinocchio is considered a canonical piece of children’s literature and has inspired hundreds of new editions, stage plays, merchandising and movies, such as Walt Disney’s iconic animated version and commonplace ideas such as a liar’s long nose.

The Adventures of Pinocchio is a novel for children by Italian author Carlo Collodi, written in Florence. It is about the mischievous adventures of an animated marionette named Pinocchio and his father, a poor woodcarver named Geppetto.

Carlo Lorenzini, better known by the pen name Carlo Collodi (November 24, 1826 – October 26, 1890), was an Italian children’s writer known for the world-renowned fairy tale novel, The Adventures of Pinocchio. Before he entered the children’s literature, he composed various satirical sketches and stories relating to poetics, including Macchiette (1880), Occhi e nasi (1881), Storie allegre (1887)
