作者简介

卡尔·冯·克劳塞维茨在1780年6月出生于普鲁士马格德堡附近布尔格镇的一个小贵族家庭。十二岁时在波茨坦的尤金亲王步兵团中充当士官生。1793年，当普鲁士同革命后的法国作战时，他曾参加围攻美因兹城等战斗。1795年升为少尉。克劳塞维茨深受德国古典文学和古典哲学的影响，在他的著作《战争论》中，克劳塞维茨试图以哲学的分析方法去揭开战争的神秘面纱，并且倾尽了毕生的心血去研究什么是战争的本质。

Carl von Clausewitz was a Prussian general and military theorist who stressed the "moral" (meaning, in modern terms, psychological) and political aspects of war. His most notable work, Vom Kriege (On War), was unfinished at his death. Clausewitz was a realist in many different senses and, while in some respects a romantic, also drew heavily on the rationalist ideas of the European Enlightenment.
