  What an interesting scene where both of them misunderstood each other! Alice wished no sudden appearance or vanishes while the cat focused on her objection to “suddenly”, so it faded away quite leisurely with the grin remaining some time after the rest of it had gone, which may be a kind of horror to little Alice. On the other hand, the behavior might be a demonstration of the cat’s humour.
