When I read this sentence, I felt sad. Because I didn't think Nelly—a servant of the Earnshaw family, should have said such words. Although Catherine has changed a lot, she is no longer that pure girl, but I still think she is wretched. She loved Heathcliff all the time, but she married Edgar for fame and wealth, she wanted to be a top class person, but she didn't get the life she wanted, instead, she fell into great pain. In this plot of the book, Catherine is very weak, even dying, so she greedily enjoys Heathcliff's companionship. But Nelly is worried about she will bring troubles, so she hoped that she will die like this. So from my point of view, this sentence is really hurtful, and I never thought that Nelly, who witnessed everything, would have such an idea. How sad!
