It is a witty and humorous novel. What Huckleberry and Kim saw and heard in their drifting life on the Mississippi River presents the readers one vivid social picture after another, and satirizes the backward and unreasonable living phenomenon. Huckleberry is a clever, kind, brave white boy. He fled to the Mississippi River in search of a free life. On his way to escape, he met Kim, a black slave. Kim is an industrious, honest, warm, loyal black slave, he in order to escape the fate of being sold again by the master, from the master's home. They drifted together on the Mississippi River, living a life of freedom, the two became good friends. Huckleberry works hard for Kim's freedom, and finally learns that Kim's master has set him free in his will.
