In the book Introduction to Political Economy published in 1803, the French economist Say also pointed out that political economics is a science of "explaining how wealth is produced, distributed and consumed". On this basis, he divided political economy into three parts: production, distribution and consumption, and established the dichotomy. In his Outline of Political Economy, James Mill inherited and developed Say's three-point method and put forward the object theory of four-point method, which reduced the research object of economics to the general principle of wealth production, distribution, exchange and consumption.
