Nancy who perhaps stands out as the most compelling character in the novel. She is both a criminal accomplice and a victim, loyal to her lover Bill Sikes yet also sympathetic to Oliver's plight. Her ultimate sacrifice in saving Oliver from harm reveals a depth of character and morality that transcends her criminal lifestyle. My reaction is fascination and empathy. While their actions are often deplorable. This complexity allows for a more nuanced understanding of human nature and the factors that shape individuals' choices and actions. the good characters in "Oliver Twist" are admirable and inspiring, it is the bad characters who often capture our imaginations.
