In September 11, 1862, O Henry was born in Greensboro, North Carolina, formerly known as William Sidney Potter. In 1885, O Henry met a 17 year old girl named Athol Estes, who was still studying in middle school in Assauer Estes. O Henry was the guitarist and musician. O Henry pursued her for two years. The night of 1 July 1887, when Assauer Estes just finished high school that night, telling her parents and O Henry both ran a parson Austen's wedding, ask him. The priest did not expect the two young people came to the wedding night, but they have grown shunshuituizhou, give them the marriage certificate. So he married Assauer Estes 1 days and nights in July 1887. After marriage, Assauer Estes changed his name to Assauer Porter (Athol Porter). The girl's mother wanted her to marry a rich man, and was very angry when she learned this, but she refused to go to church for months without paying any attention to the priest. However, this marriage lasted only 10 years. In 1897, O Henry's wife died of illness. In 1907, O Henry married Sarah Lindsay Coleman, a lover of his early years, and divorced the following year.

From the nature of the subject matter, O Henry's works can be roughly divided into three categories. One is the description of life in the western United States; the other is the life of some big cities in the United States; the other is Latin American life. These different themes are closely related to different experiences in the main life periods of the author. Among the three types of works, undoubtedly, the number of works describing the city life is the most, and the meaning is the biggest.

The greatest feature of O Henry's novels in their artistic treatment is their "unexpected ending". Only the last moment, the "riddle" is finally solved. The development of the plot seems to be developing in a direction in the Ming Dynasty, but the result is a surprise. Dealing with accidental dilemma result often humorous effect is ironic, in O Henry's novels, humor is always, some specifically for humor and humor. In the novels of O Henry, the detailed description of the external characteristics of characters is far beyond the exploration and analysis of the inner world of characters. May be limited by the length, perhaps O Henry to show the character of inner conflict is not very interested, he often put the characters in the novel called "the Muppets", that they are unable to control their own destiny, with the typical fatalism.

When I open the first page, you will be attracted by the delicate words of O Henry, one of the world's three greatest short story masters, and will be impressed by his ironic description. O Henry's novels are full of humor and witty wit. His language is vivid and concise, and there is room for imagination. At the same time, the end of his novel shows his amazing originality. He first revealed some status as a way in the process of the development of the plot, foreshadowed, but the most important thing is always kept secret, at the end of the The path winds along mountain ridges., click into place, unexpected ending, touch. Such clever writing skills are worth learning.
