the top of the Power
The Woman Standing on the top of the Power---Elizabeth I
To tell you the truth, I’ve admired Elizabeth I for a long time. When I had history class in senior high school, I was interested in the history of British. And I can still remember the Tudor Dynasty constructing the fundamental basis of the Sun Never Sets. The most brilliant part of Tudor is the period of Elizabeth’s rule. During her period, England remained unified and gradually became the most powerful nation in Europe. This period is also called “Golden Age” of England. Above are what I have known before. In the book, I saw a different Elizabeth, and I think I know ssome reasons of her success.
The book told a story about Elizabeth’s girlhood. The first thing I need to mention is her education. Because she was pointed as the heir of the throne, the education she received is the same as a boy. Therefore, she is described as “a compound of scholar and hoyden, pride and carelessness, ambition and indifference, culture and rudeness” in the book. But this kind of education modelled her characteristic, which is beneficial for her to be a successful queen. Of course, this is based on her good behavior in study. It is recorded she is so diligent and independent. This is more apparent in the following story. The courier was totally shocked by her behavior and words. He could not believe the young girl in front of him is the king of Sweden. Although she was a young girl, her temperament is similar to a king. If I were the courier, I would have been submitted to her as well.
It is said that chances favor the prepared mind. I understand this motto better. Elizabeth’s great achievement is not only about herself, it is also a valuable wealth for British and the whole world.
