Misunderstood love

After reading this book, my greatest feeling is that it talks about A kind of unusual love between mother and daughter, which is not as strong as Sons and Lovers. So in my opinion, It's more like a misunderstood love. In this book, what I see is a dominating mother who loved her daughter in a wrong way. She wanted to control her daughter and pushed back those man who coveted her daughter. However, her daughter did not understand mother's love. She was like an eld rebellious child who used various method to escape her mother.
