The novel tells the poor life of a poor woman Darsi, and how she survives on a salary of only six dollars a week. When she faced the dilemma under the temptation of the rich man, she wavered but at long last refused. It inspires me that no matter what kind of situation we are trapped in, we shall give up ourselves. Nvertheless， this is not an easy thing to do in life. Many people lose themselves easily for material satisfaction. Dalsey's character is worth learning for us all.
