Mr. McCaskey was a double-dealer man who treated others gentlemanlike but looked down upon his wife. They quarreled quite often for trivial things and even fought. He never thought about his wife and do nothing to their family. After the missing of boy, neighbors talked a lot but do nothing. Their indifference makes me feel sick. No one take it seriously and at the same time, no one was happy when the boy "came back", they just regarded it as a brief interlude. At the end of the story, Mr. McCaskey began quarreling again and no one would like to help them to get over their worries.
