E.V Lucas, author of Roving East and Roving west, travels to many countries as a rover, with a number of travel works, one of which is a masterpiece of the world of roaming things. The author walked out of Europe, came to India and Japan as the representative of the Eastern World and the United States as the representative of the western world, recorded their travels around the experience and feelings, feel the two different countries of East and West, appreciate their distinctive history and culture.
In the author's travels, there are many differences between the East and West worlds. What impressed me most was the difference in the status of women between East and west. In Japan, Japan is ruled by men and serves men. Women can only behave happily in front of their masters, and they must not complain, and the women here are busy pleasing their husbands, which is an unwritten law in Japan. "Photo Bride" also shows the obedience and indifference of Japanese women to fate. In the United States, American women are confident and independent, they are able to take the initiative in conversation and planning, they get together with each other is always humorous, frank, and with men, they always seem to be a sarcastic, condescending attitude. American women have a peculiar power to attract other female admirers who further enhance their self-esteem. Their alliance is almost like a sturdy, secretive group that meets their own needs. Neither men nor women seem to be haggard because they are not accompanied by each other. In India, although the authors do not elaborate, we all know that the status of women is extremely low. For example, Sao burned a wife, refers to a kind of domestic murder crime. The common denominator of such crimes stems from dowry disputes, which are often achieved by burning wives and pretending to be self-immolation or kitchen accidents, so that the number of victims of such domestic murders is still only estimated and difficult to count.
On the whole, this book is a good introduction to the differenc
