Book review.
Recently, Mr. Kuo Hongmings "The Spirit of the Chinese" was read in a piecemeal time. The content of the book made me understand the profoundness of Chinese culture and the spirit of the real Chinese.
The author of the book, Mr. Yan Hongming, studied Chinese and British people. They were called Qing Dynasty Geeks and were the first Chinese to be proficient in Western science, language and Oriental Chinese studies in the Manchu era.In the early 20th century, Westerners once said: If you want to go to China, you can't see the Forbidden City.It can be seen that he was influential in society at the time.
In this book, Gu Hongming believes that to attach importance to a civilization, we must look at "what kind of people, men and women can be produced."He criticized the missionaries and sinologists who are known as "the authority of Chinese civilization research" "actually does not really understand Chinese and Chinese." He uniquely pointed out: "To understand the real China and Chinese civilization, that person must be profound. "Broad, simple" because "the three characteristics of the Chinese and Chinese civilization are profound, broad, simple, except "sensitive."
He believes that the Chinese are particularly polite people. The essence of true courtesy is to consider the feelings of others.Chinese people are very polite because they live a spiritual life. They know that their feelings are also easy to consider the feelings of others.Although the courtesy of the Chinese is not as polite as the Japanese, it is very comfortable, because, as the French have expressed, this is a courtesy of the soul.On the contrary, the politeness of the Japanese is not so comfortable, it can be said to be a polite rehearsal - similar to the courtesy of drama studies. This is different from the spontaneous politeness that comes directly from the heart. In fact, the courtesy of Japan does not seem to have fragrant flowers. The courtesy of the truly polite Chinese has a fragrance, the fragrance of the precious ointment from the soul.
He also discussed the issue of Chinese. The easy source of spoken Chinese is that it is an extremely simple language. It is a language without language, no tension, no rules and irregular verbs. In fact, there is no grammar or any other rules. Therefore, for the Chinese, Hankou is not a difficult language in itself. But for those educated Europeans who come to China, especially those who have been educated halfway, even Chinese is a difficult language. He believes that speaking Chinese is a language that is completely uneducated; in fact it is the language of children. It is so easy for European children to learn Chinese when learning sinologists insist that it is so difficult to speak Chinese. Therefore, he believes that to learn Chinese as a child, you can not only enter the door of heaven, but also learn Chinese.
However, there are some points in the book that I don't quite agree with. For example, the system and maintenance of three-inch golden lotus. But the essence of the subject matter in the book is worth learning.
Try to be a deep, broad, simple and sensitive person.
