David Herbert Lawrence (usually written d. H.awrence) was an English writer of the 20th century. Major achievements include novels, poems, plays, essays, travel notes and letters. The themes of the work deal with the inhumanity of modern society and industrialization. Psychological and instinctive descriptions are often involved in the works. His representative works are "Sons and Lover", "Rainbow", "Woman in Love" and "Lady Chatterley's Lover" and so on.
D. h. Lawrence's short essay Getting On recalls his time with his mother. Her mother represented all that was noble in Lawrence's life, but she lived in poverty and so longed for her children to excel, and despising his passion for writing. She wanted him to get into the upper class and getting on, but he wanted to stick to his writing ideal. Facing these two contradictions, he finally chose his own writing dream. But he was desperate to get his mother's approval, even when she was no longer there, and he wondered if she would be satisfied with what he had achieved if she were.
I used read the book #Sons and Lover # written by D.H. Lawrence. These two passages both focus on " mother". I realize that Lawrence whole life is affect by his mother. The growing environment can really made a hero or destroy a person. Those who growing up in big cities may be much more confident than those who grow up in the village. Poor kids often lost confidence when they didn't receive respect when they are young. They tend to close their heart and mind and plant to go away the noisy world.
