W ritten by Saint-Exupéry, a French pilot , the  book The Little Prince   was first published in 194 3 . The main character is a little prince came from an asteroid known as B-612.

On the planet B-612, the little prince is the only resident. After bidding farewell to the planet and the roses he loves, he began travelling across universe, and finally touched down on the planet Earth. Before landing on the Earth, the little prince had travelled six different planets, and made acquaintance of six different person. A king, a tippler, a businessman, a lamplighter, a geographer and a conceited man. Inside the little prince s soul, there is purity and lofty moral. And because of this, he is all alone in the adult world.

The story in this book is mainly told by a pilot, who made a emergency landing due to an engine failure on his plane. He was awaken by an odd little voice made by the little prince after a sleep in the Desert of Sahara, which is a thousand miles from any human habitation. The pilot is the only person who can communicate with the little prince. The pilot, just like the little prince, is quite alone in the adult world. His childishness still exists in his heart, but other adults around him don t understand that.

The similarities between these two people made them friends when the had their first contact.

The book opposes the values in the adulthood, instead it seeks the real meaning of life from the perspective of a child. From the innocent view of the little prince, the book reflects the inanity, vanity, greed and eagerness for power of the adult world. From the feelings and the words of the little prince and the pilot, we see a world full of curiosity, love, responsibility and innocence.

As we grow from a child to an adult, we gain knowledge, power and many other things, but we also lose many things like a simple view to the world. Being an adult makes us more care about our interest, our power, our social status. But we never think of those things when we are a child. It s so hard to get back to the childish  way of thinking that we always cherish the memory of the days that we are young. The Little Prince   reminds us of our early stages of our life, reminds us of the innocent ways of thinking we once had when we are a child, reminds us of the innocent love we once had to this world.

Six person that the little prince met and people who do not understand the pilot s Drawing Number One represent the qualities that the author wants to oppose. Using a child s perspective to self-examine our current life is what we really need.

There is a sentence that deeply touches me. It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose important.
