《简爱》读后感

  The book <Jane Eyre> has shown me a moving story about dignity, love and tolerance. At the beginning of the book, It truly reveals the unfortunate life of a poor girl. She lost her parents in her childhood and was sent to her aunt Mrs.Reed. However, destiny never favors the poor one. Living in her aunt’s house, she was not only bullied by her aunt and cousins, but also forced to bear the mean remarks from them. As she grew up, she began to fight against the abuse and was sent to the orphanage. In the orphanage, she still can’t escape from the bully. After her best friend Helen passed away, she began to study and chase her dream alone.

  In my opinion, it was the unfortunate childhood that shaped her strong value. The more bully she got, the more equality she desired. The perennial abuse can’t destroy her dignity but even arouse her impulsion to fight against the unfair destiny. During the long period of fighting for freedom and independence, she realized that only self-esteem could earn the respect from others. Due to this, she gradually grew as ambitious lady with profound knowledge and strong dignity.

  In the middle part of the book, Jane felt in love with Mr.Rochester. However, there are also a lot of obstacles on her road for love — the unneglected gap of age, status and fortune. Despite of those great difference, they talk with each other equally and freely. The spirital communication accelerated their feelings and convinced them that they were the perfect couple. 

  In my view, love must be based on equality and echo. The mutual respect could cover the gap between two people and fond a solid fundament for love. Though Jane and Mr.Rochester had entirely different background, but their equal communication became the link between them. The echo in their communication convinced them that they could be the soul mate to each other. The love between them is pure and noble. Jane ignored the great fortune of Mr.Rochester and even hated the treasures given by him. What Jane desired is a romantic and spiritual love, not unilateral charity and protect. When she knew the existence of Mr.Rochester’s legal wife , she made up her mind to leave driven by her strong dignity and desire for independence.

  When Mrs.Reed became seriously sick, Jane came back to take care of her despite of the long-term bully in the past. I consider this the best explain of tolerance. Though life is full of difficulties, we should always keep a tolerate mind to accept them. Tolerance could help us keep optimistic to the difficulties and have the courage to conquer them. The tolerance of Jane help her go through the unfortunate life and find her own happiness. She put down all the suffering in her childhood so that she could chase a new life. The way to the brand new life should not contain the obstacles from the past and tolerance is the best solution to get rid of the past.

  Above all, <Jane Eyre> presents a wonderful description about forming dignity, chasing love and keeping tolerance.
