The book tells the story of the time traveler who invented a machine that could travel through time. The scientist used this machine to travel to earth more than 800,000 years later, when human beings were divided into two races:the weak, ignorant, lazy, indifferent, and pleasure-seeking daytime race,another is strong, brutal, and underground night race. The day race is as fragile as china beauty, they are the dinner of the night race. The night race is a formidable cannibal, when the night falls to catch the day race people as food.However, because of the changes in the environment, both RACES are extinct eventually. The author of the book compares the rich to the evolved day race and the poor to the evolved night race. This story reflects his social the disadvantages of disparity between the rich and the poor and the contradiction between the capitalists and workers, he is afraid of the future society will happen human killing each other, similar to the "cannibalism" tragic ending.This book expressed his yearning to communism society, where people can live in equality, love, harmony.The time machine is a cautionary tale about the fate of mankind, which is worth for people to think about.
