Even though the book was written in the world war II, the behaviors and ideas that people reacted to the disasters were similar. In the early days of the outbreaks, Rieux found the disease was unusual and it was needed to be controlled well, but authorities did not take the problem seriously resulting in an uncontrollable situation. Faced with the terrible plague, Rieux and Tarrou organized volunteers to help with the medical work. Just like the ordinary workers now, they are making great contributions to the society. The characters in this book represent certain groups of people. Rieux is a representative of the medical workers, and Tarrou represented warm-hearted and strong people. Cottard was the only people who enjoyed earning money and avoided the reality during the plague. Rambert suffered the sadness of separation with love. There were indifference, miseries but warmth and passion in the story. When it comes to coronavirus, fear and panic were inevitable, but the point is how do we pass the disaster smoothly. After reading this book, I understand more about how human emotions and attitude influence the trend of the crisis.
