Henry James Henry James 19 the greatest American novelist after Hawthorne and Melville in the century, is also the great literary magnate in the history of American and even world literature. His novels often describe the problems of communication between Americans and Europeans; how the sins of adults affect and destroy the pure and intelligent children; the contradiction between material and spiritual; the loneliness of artists, the life of writers and artists, etc. I think the teacher and author of this book are alike, they all want to save, but in the end they have nothing. James was very unhappy in his childhood. He grew up in fear of his brother. James had a family affair, but then he repaired it. How his growth in the shadow of his brother affected his inner world and, in turn, his creation, because James was too sensitive.
