The Pupil

A penniless college student has struck up a friendship with an 11-year-old pupil after choosing to earn money as a tutor to survive. The pupil, who suffers from heart disease and is out of character with the rest of his family, hopes to live with his tutor forever, but this backfired. The novel, which ends in tragedy, is classic but also satirical.
