鼠疫
sonnet
This is not a story about how people fight bravely in suffering. Perhaps
in our land, we are used to telling stories full of positive energy from
the place where disasters occur, which can provide spiritual comfort, as
if we are very short of these things. But in Dr. rier's diary, the
courage to fight against disease coexists with negativity and avoidance.
Responsibility, love, kinship and friendship are weak and insignificant
in the first place. No, taru fought alongside the doctors in the fight
against the disease, but he was thinking of a bigger problem. Even if
not at this time, we are all plague patients - the whole society is
sick. Taru found that most people - including his most respected father
before - would approve of the death of millions of people for some
"just cause," just as he did himself. Yes, people agree to
kill people for the sake of some great principles, patriotism and
justice, because they have no choice? But they all acquiesce in their
choice. Taru wanted to do something when the plague missed them, but he
died the night before the plague disappeared. Before he died, he said,
"I lost.". Did he really lose? When the survivors embraced
each other, they had a joy they had not experienced for many days, but
those who yearned for it found that they had conquered the plague and
achieved nothing. Except taru. Taru gains peace, a meaningless peace, at
the cost of death. The reason why people who wish for something finally
feel that they have nothing to gain even if they survive is because they
are longing for things that they can't reach. I guess, but I don't want
to say it, because everyone will have different ideas. At this time,
everyone will have different words to say to Camus. In the face of
suffering, one does not have to pretend to be a hero. No one should
pretend to be a hero at any time. People should seek truth from facts.
The choice of seeking truth from facts does not mean that we have to
advance and retreat with the residents of the city. Lambert's seeking
truth from facts is to leave here quietly to stick to his love, while
Dr. rier can only spend the difficult years in solitude, waiting for his
sick wife to die through a void. The fate of a person is so
insignificant that the dead will eventually have no surname, and those
who survive will eventually have no surname, because the end also said
that plague bacteria still exist, and may one day outbreak again. Of
course, that's not the only reason. There are no more heartbreaking,
tortuous plots, no more touching stories, no more touching love. We
don't need any of these. We, like people in the plague, end up with
everything we can do. When we're still putting ourselves into those
deliberately arranged stories, we don't think that those are actually
impossible. However, it is possible for all of this to happen in the
plague. Are we more likely to love, impossible or possible? Maybe the
former. We always think about what we don't need and ignore everything
hidden in our lives. How much more do you have to pay for this ordinary
world to make it more idealistic and romantic? How long will it take
before the world we crave will come? It's never possible. When you lift
the veil with your own hands, you will find out. This is the world we
live in. We can't live anywhere else. No matter how justified, we can
only exist here, in the world where the plague lurks.
