霖铃凛

an excellent work

霖铃凛

At the moment I began reading this book, I reallize that it can't simply be just a story about the Plague.

It happens at Oran. the Doctor is coming out his appartment and heading for his patient when he notice that there are dead micel lying in front of his stairs with blood curdle at their mouth. It's a little bit strange, however, it doesn't draw the door guard's attention when it was told to him. Time goes by, the number of dead mouse grows rapidly. They apear everywhere, appartment, car station, street, noticing a big disaster is around the corner. Another few days pass, an unkown deadly disease swept through the city, causing a great panic among people. The goverment lock down the Oran, ordering that nobody can come out of the city without permisson. More and more people are infected and more and more die. The Doctor is fighting day and night, trying his best to save lives. The outsider journalist who try his every effort to slip out of Oran change his mind and join the war against the Plague. During the "war", Taru and Dr.Rieu becomes brother-like friend. Unfortunetely, Taru died after getting infected. Finally, the Plagur ends with the cost of hundreds of lives.

I think Dr.Rieu is just the dortor that we ought to be. With no consideration of fane and wealth, he does his job perfectly, working 20 hours a day to save the dying paitient. He doesn't believe in god or the future, he just make full advantage of every minute he gets, focusing entirely on the patients. This is what we need to do when facing the disater. Not praying, not crying, not running away, just focus on what you should do and do it well, even if it is hard to win the battle against the disease.

For this book, I think Camus tells me how to stay kind when facing a big disater. It's really hard for me tell the feeling I got from the book. Maybe it's the princeplethat I should follow or maybe it's the words that I should keep in my mind.

All in all, this is the book that worths repeatly reading. I can read it hundreds of times and find some new things from it.
