It's a strange book: a Danish writer, writing in non-native English, in Kenya, Africa, a million miles away; The book has almost no plot, and seems to me to be more like a collection of essays, like essays, cohered by time, with no central conflicts, no erotic love, and no unavoidable trivia. Such a book is neither profound nor humorous; However, non-native English, no matter how beautiful and plain it is, is always less accurate and profound than English writers.
