some feelings
Freya
For the Merchant of Venice, there are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand
people's eyes. Each person has a different Shylock, Antonio, Bao Xixia,
And Basanio in his eyes, as well as the feelings of the judge, the court
and the verdict. Here I will only make a slight exposition of the
feelings of each person's character. Sometimes the power of words is
huge, sometimes it is weak, and it is impossible to describe the
quadrillionth of what I think in my mind. The confrontation between
Shylock and Antonio is not only a dispute of personal interests, But
also, I think, the confrontation between one faith and another, and the
confrontation between one nation and another. They didn't want jews to
exist. But what happened to the Jews? They just become Jews. Why should
they be treated in this way, and should those who are not born into this
race really burn incense? Shylock. A Jew at the bottom of society,
oppressed by his nation, doesn't he want to be kind? Doesn't he want to
be tolerant? Doesn't he want to be a gentleman who gets a lot of praise?
But how could he compete with those at the top of society who, at the
worst possible moment, had to dress smartly? Yes, he was vicious, he was
evil, but this was determined by the circumstances in which he lived,
and if he had been better, he could have been Antonio. Antonio, a
respectable gentleman of high rank, generous, borrowing money without
interest, always elegant, always a gentleman. He spat at Shylock, so
much so that he greeted him with saliva. He is not wrong, Sherlock this
kind of person's world is he cannot understand, he has never experienced
the suffering of Shylock, naturally can not understand Shylock's concept
and behavior. But perhaps one day, when his people are oppressed and his
beliefs rejected, he will become another Shylock. But maybe that day
will never come.
