CLIVIMINE

It tells the story of a plague outbreak in the city of Oran in the 1940s. The novel adopts the third person, mainly through the doctor Rieux saw, heard and thought to unfold the narrative, throughout the plague from the beginning to the climax and then to the final end of the whole process. Dr. Rieux witnessed the loss of many lives, and even his best friend Tharu finally caught the plague and died just before it was over. There is no doubt that Rieux and Taroo are the two most important characters in the novel. Both men were compassionate, and they were among the few who dared to tell the truth during the plague. In fact, seriously speaking, different people behave differently in the plague: politicians arrogantly ignorant, cover up blame, and even want to take advantage of the disaster for profit; The original life of the humble, with black market access, for the people to bring all kinds of forbidden goods, suddenly became the city in the character of the day; Small people panic helpless, selfish greed, every day just live a decadent life. The plague city was sealed off, and no one could come in and out of it freely, which brought out the dark side of people's minds, that no one could be sure of the existence of the plague, because they were afraid to take responsibility. At this time Rieux and Tharu are like two lights, to comfort the people in distress, to the confused people with direction. One part of the book that struck me was when Rieu and Taru went for a late night swim in the sea. The two men found happiness in a calm sea, which brought them a brief peace. In that short space of time, the two had become fully dedicated friends and the evening had become one of their cherished memories. The other is a description of the final stages of Tharu's life. Tharu kept repeating "I lost". But actually in Rieux's eyes, and even in my eyes, Tharoo was not lost. He devoted his life to the fight against the plague, and it was through the efforts of him and Rieux and others that people were able to defeat this "evil". He fulfilled his wish to "become a saint". Reading this book resonates even more with me in the context of the New Crown epidemic, which has been going on for a year. Literature and reality are always connected. At the beginning of the epidemic, we can hear a lot of negative reports, which are similar to the scenes in the book. But what is different is that everyone, from the state to the people, is involved in the prevention and control of the epidemic. Cities have been closed, roads have been closed, and authorities have stepped up investigations to strictly control the spread of the disease. During this period, there also emerged countless inspiring characters and stories, including the little reporter who dared to tell the truth, the doctors and nurses who fought day and night, the ordinary people who donated money and materials, and the friendly neighbors who helped in a timely manner. After reading this book, I can not help but sigh, even in the face of the demonic New Crown epidemic, the strength of unity is still infinite. And for those of us who live in ordinary and have unusual dreams, we should be like Rieux and Talu, always heartache and bear in mind the survival and development of all mankind. Just as the motto of the school says, "only ask for right and wrong, not for interest", do the right thing and be the right person.
