Pride and prejudice
Pride and prejudice is the masterpiece of famouse British writer Jane Austen. It's a very romantic love story. And my favorite character is Mr. Darcy.
In my opinion, in the whole love process between Darcy and Elizabeth, it is Darcy who takes the fiest step, and it is Darcy who has devoted a lot to their love. Darcy is a very arrogant person, but in order to get the love of Elizabeth, he gradually realized his mistake, and made a change. But Elizabeth only blindly took a prejudiced eye to look at Darcy, believe Wickem's one side of the story, but also self-rightous woman. I like Darcy not only because how much he has contributes to the marriage of Elizabeth's sister, but also because he knew clearly that he was not liked by the Bennett's, but also tried to change himself, put down his pride, and silently make contributions for the beloved person. As far as I can see,he is the most sincere characyer int he book.
Besides the love story, I found that the novel also expressed people's desire for money. Mrs. Bennett, in order to be able to marry her daughters, would have agreed to marry them, if they were rich, no matter who they were, and whether they would be happay or not after they get married. And Wickem, the most material-obsessed character in the book, cheats girls everywhere in order to get money. There is also Elizabeth's best friend Charlotte, although both she and Elizabeth have the same views on Mr.Collins, think he is ridiculous, but in order to live a better life, she finally choose to marry Mr.Collins who she does not like. So it's not just a romantic love story, it's a real life story.
There are just so many different characters that were all formed under the society of England in 18's century. Then, there was filled with unfairness between men and women. Just as what Jane Austen said, " It is a truth universally knowledge that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife." Therefore, I also see from this novel that the author at that time was realistic dissatisfaction.
