A big conflict

A big conflict between fantasy and reality 

  After reading 'The Tiredness of Rosabel', I felt very sad for Rosabel. From the big contrast between her wonderful fantasy and cruel reality, I saw her sadness of failing to change the reality.

  After an exhausted day at work, Rosabel returned to her shabby dingy room, drew the curtains to separate herself from the outside world, and began to dream of a better life. In her fantasy, she had a good life and a handsome, rich boyfriend. But in real life, she was alone and struggling to make a living. Everything in the dream was so wonderful that the poor girl did not even want to wake up from her fantasy. Perhaps only in her dream could she got some comfort.

  Rosabel reminded me of the little match girl, who was also helpless and could only draw strength from fantasy. How heartbreaking! Fortunately, Rosabel was not as desperate as the little match girl. She could earn her own living, or at least keep herself alive. Mentally, she was not completely numb. She still had a faint hope, which was symbolized by the violets she bought.

   I would like to believe that Rosabel's predicament is only temporary and she can make a better life with her own efforts.
