• Firstly, the whole novel is narrated from the first person perspective, from a relatively objective perspective to see the image of the girl. Through the participation of "I", I saw the girl's experience and felt her inner contradictions.
• Secondly, The girl's character is expressed through her surroundings and her own words and actions. When the girl was banned because of her age, she comforted her bewildered mother instead. And her disregard for casinos and coffee shops, her skill in dusting powder on her nose, and her disdain for even taking tea, shows her maturity.
• Additionally, she got on the bus and told the driver to go as fast as possible. It showed her inner conflict. All day she struggled to feature the image of an attractive, mature woman. And she no longer identify with Henry's childhood world, leading to her lonely plight. The mother left the child outside and went to the casino herself, acting irresponsibly and not even showing up at the appointed time. The girl's upbringing with this mother has influenced her character.
•  I feel pity for the girl. Her mother took her to the casino to make her a mature woman, and she wasn't ready for that. She is still in the transition between being a child and being an adult. The article profoundly shows the reality that the immature girl's body and mind collide with her fantasy, which makes her feel frustrated.
