"The Old Man and the Sea"is an inspiring and encouraging book,
telling the story of an old man at sea. For 84 days, he did not catch a
fish, but he had a determined faith and strong willing. Finally, he
caught a very big marlin as a reward. What was unfortune was that the
fish dragged his boat for three days, which discouraged and tortured him
before being killed. It impressed me that the old man fought solely with
no food, no water, no weapon and no helper. What's worse, on the way
back, he encountered a group of sharks, which robbed his trophy. The old
man bravely struggled with the sharks, only to see that the sharks ate
up marlin meat and left the skeleton. It is an disapoointed and
depressed event, which would strike me if I were the old man. However,
the author intended to convey that the old man was actually the great
champion of the life. He held a struggling and diliggent outlook on
life, exercising his perseverance and determination in the fight with
sharks. In my opinion, life is like fishing, since there is no permanent
victory. It is a fight with no chance to win. The only matter we should
do is to be mentally tenacious, positive, brave and not fearing the
failure. Even if I am beated physically, I will always be strong in spirit.
