“A person is not born to be defeated, you can destroy it. But I can not
beat him. ” There is no flowery rhetoric, no grand theory, only concise
language which seems straightforward but has been repeatedly scrutinized
by writers. The theme of the whole article is summed up in one sentence.
This intuitive and concise language highlights the ‘ tough guy
character'possessed by the old man. A simple story, an extraordinary
story, a big marlin, an old fisherman named Santiago did not catch a big
fish in 84 days. on the 85th day, when he went fishing alone,he met a
huge marlin. It took three days and three nights to get there. However,
at this time, they met sharks, and the old man fought with sharks to the
death. As a result, the big marlin was eaten up by sharks, and the old
man finally dragged home only a bare fish skeleton. The old man spent a
great deal of money and only got a pair of fish skeletons. But this is
enough to win everyone' s admiration. He embodies the noble quality that
mankind is fearless in the face of difficulties and obstacles, and
because of this, he has won people's respect. This novel praises the old
man' s spirit of striving hard without fear of difficulties.we should be
as positive as him, persevere in everything, meet difficulties and never
give up halfway.Although the old man missed the big fish,he was not
defeated. we can deeply appreciate this spirit from him.The old man is a
great man. I entered the old life of Santiago, the old fisherman,
from the simple, accurate and full of life breath description. I read
his desolation and loneliness, and saw his tenacity. what is more
valuable is that he is still full of confidence in life in such a harsh
environment. The book'' The Old man and the Sea'' has made me realize a
great truth that can inspire people to never stop moving forwardino
matter what difficulties they encounter, they can not “say no"
without struggle, and they can not give up if they encounter a little
failure. only by working hard to deal with difficulties and facing
failures optimistically can they succeed.
