伏梦妍

A Motley Crew

伏梦妍

Recently,I have read an interesting book:A Motley Crew.It is a famous book about the psychology of the masses first published by Gustav Le Pen.At the beginning, the author puts forward a definition: many people together are called groups. A group is a living creature with its own feelings and thoughts. Then, the author states the characteristics of the group clearly.

As far as I'm concerned, the language of this book is simple, direct and critical. The feeling of reading it can be described as shocking,as the group characteristics summarized in it reminded me of an assortment of evil deeds in the revolutions in China and various group events in recent news, such as smashing "Japanese" vehicles. After reading this satirical work,I was greatly moved and reached a consensus with the author. I almost agree that the group is full of savage primitive people.

However, the views in the book seem to be biased. It is universally acknowledged that different groups have unique characteristics. So it is simple and rough to call all the groups mobs. These examples listed by the author only select historical events that support ideas described in the book.

In conclusion, this book tells me that it is so important to think independently from different angels. And this is definitely the biggest gain this book has brought me.
