What beats the soul
Murray's life seems to have changed dramatically due to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. In fact, from that moment on, his thoughts began to jump to a new platform. From the technical term "amyotrophic lateral sclerosis", we can still see horror. In the words of the author Mickey , the disease makes the limbs unable to move due to muscle atrophy, but can still maintain pain. It's ironic. Healthy people, can you imagine the pain when your limbs can't move?
The last course starts here. Every Tuesday is class time. The 14 week course has no credits, grade AB and lesson preparation books, but it condenses the professor's more than 70 years of life experience and experience. There is no better way to accumulate. The classroom is in the professor's study and ward. There is no technical teaching. Those retreat lectures are more like spiritual communication, talking about the world, self pity, family, marriage, regret, forgiveness, culture, death and so on.
In secular life, we receive all kinds of education and guidance. Those gorgeous principles, such as gift boxes about family, marriage, career, wealth and status, finally formed today's unbreakable collective consciousness and plunged the world into a mysterious crisis that everyone thinks is a mystery crisis. There are different views here. The elderly who have never had mainstream values find more truth at this time.
Here, I want to focus on the topic of death. Because, from small to large, has anyone talked openly about death with us? Death is always a taboo topic, that is, familiarity and fear. It is customary to isolate it and recognize it far away. When it came, everything was unprepared and angry, like an unprecedented injustice.
"Disease has been torturing my soul, but it can't take it away. Disease can take my body, but it can't take my soul.". Professor, when can we have such an idea in real life? Most of the time, we are used to giving up our soul first. "If you don't want to grow old, you will never be happy, because you will grow old eventually.". He said, I think at this moment, Murray also discovered the secret of living in the sun.
Everyone knew he would die, but no one wanted to believe it. We don't want to look at ourselves from the perspective of the elderly. We are only use to covering up the truth of death with sadness and pain when our relatives leave. Maybe we have created a consciousness that there will be a rainbow after the storm. Life is undoubtedly a colorful rainbow, but the rainbow is always fading. Murray's teaching is not just on Tuesday. As long as we listen carefully, he continues every moment of every day. When you put down all your thoughts, he is not in heaven.
"Forgive yourself before you forgive others". Murray finally said. Tolerate everything, including death.
