A Report on Chrismas Carol
徐佳玥
After reading "A Christmas Carol," the question stuck in my
mind: "If you suddenly had a chance to see your past, present, and
future clearly, would you live as you do now?" Ebenezer Scrooge,
the hero of A Christmas Carol, is a rich, mean, mean and bad-tempered
old miser. He hated all holidays, even Christmas, which everyone loved.
But it was such a nasty old man that on Christmas Eve he was visited by
three spirits, the spirits of the past, the spirits of the present and
the spirits of the future. On New Year's morning, he changes from a
miser to a kind, tolerant and passionate philanthropist, all because of
the magical journey the ghost takes him on... Just as the saying goes,
"Yesterday is history, tomorrow is mystery, but today is a
gift." Yesterday is the bridge to understanding yourself. Tomorrow
is the unknown. What is really important and useful is today! Live in
the present moment, but don't forget to think about the past and the
future once in a while. They will give you a better idea of how to live
today. When you realize that the present is worse than the past, and the
future will be worse, change it! Like Scrooge, it's never too late to
change. I will always believe in being kind, I think, as the Christmas
carols ring in my ears again.
