comments on the novel The Old Man and the Sea

This month,I read Hemingway's"The Old man and the Sea",I was deeply moved by the optimistic,brave and persistent spirit of of the protagonist in the book ,and was deeply attracted by Hemingway's tough guy image. The hero Sandiago is a "bad luck" old man, 84 days without catching fish, 85 days to go to sea, after two days and three nights of fighting, finally caught a big Marlin of more than 1500 pounds. However, the day of unforeseen circumstances, in the voyage home, many shark attacks, the old man and shark life-or-death fight, the results of the big Marlin was eaten up by the shark, the old man finally dragged home only a bare fish skeleton. During this period, the old man with extraordinary courage, amazing perseverance, endure unbearable loneliness, hunger, fatigue and pain, again and again beyond the limits of human. But we did not see a drop of tears of failure, but clearly see the proud smile of the failure of the strong, he is a tough man, is a hero of glory in spite of defeat.
