Book Review

After reading this book,I think a lot. Life is like a cup of tea which
tastes bitter at the beginning and felt sweet in the end. Jane went
miles away to a unfamiliar place. She lost all her money and possessions
so she had to beg for help, putting down her pride. She was so lucky
that the people saved her life were her close relations. This was wealth
indeed a lonely heart, brighter and more life giving than the heavy
responsibility of coins and gold. They spent extremely happy moments in
the old moor house. Her lovely sisters Diana and Mary were helpful, as
they played together taught each other. I think St. John was a man who
was cold outside and hot inside. On the one hand,he was very responsible
as he cared about the poor and sick and he wanted to be a missionary for
god. On the other hand,he saved Jane’s life but he was indifferent to
her and coldly gave up the beautiful lady who loved him and he also
loved her. He devoted himself to God to earn his place in heaven. I
admired his great determination. In some way, I think he was selfish
because he asked Jane to learn new language and limited her freedom, only
approved of serious moods and studies. He even wanted Jane to marry him
just because of God’s calling. In my opinion,St.John was just a perfect
priest rather than a good husband. All he needed was an assistant who
obeyed his every order. However, there was one thought I agreed with
him:I advise you to work hard and not to look back into your past.If
something which we know is wrong tempts us,then we must make every
effort to avoid it,by putting our energy to better use. I think it was a
positive idea to deal with bad temptation and possibly I would get
something valuable if I had done it. Later, when Jane inherited her
uncle’s fortune which made her become a totally independent and rich
woman, out of kindness,Jane separated her fortune with her cousins.
Fortunately,St John didn’t force Jane to marry him and respected Jane’s
voice in her heart. As Jane heard Mr.Rochester’s calling, she returned
to find him.Though I thought Mr.Rochester wasn’t worth love before, I
changed my mind later. I found that Mr.Rochester was stick to love Jane
and waiting for Jane.Lost one hand and both sight of eyes,Mr.Rochester
was miserable and unconfident who tossed his pride and complacency. He
wanted to save his wife’s life in the fire but he failed. He wanted to
find Jane back but he also failed. Jane returned to support him, being a
neighbor, housekeeper, and companion for this poor man.Mr.Rochester was
like a great tree hit by lightning while Jane was like young plants by
the side to comfort it.Finally, they lived a happy life as well as
Diana,Mary and St.John.In this book, I liked the determined spirits
among the characters, especially Jane. I wanted to be as strong as Jane,
just doing what I think it is right, always sticking to my dream and
bravely pursuing love.
