A Magic Book
The Magic Loop is written by Roy Cage, aiming at introducing a useful method to assist you to achieve your goal more easily, and the author names this method "the magic loop".
In the author's own words, the magic loop "begins with an idea in the imagination, becomes a structured thought in the thinking mind, is translated into words that accurately represent the idea and is completed when the words are spoken into the atmosphere surrounding us and our ears return the idea to our brain/mind complex creating the idea once again in the brain and the mind." When the loop is constructed, the idea (which is often your dream or your goal) will spontaneously show on your behavior, which means, you achieve your goal with the loop.
And the book basically explain the method by firstly introduce it broadly and then reveal the process of you adopting it. Then, it shows the outcome of using it in real cases. Among the cases, the author also used his wife's case, making the book more convincing.
The best of this book, I think, is its detailed expression. The author makes it easy and understandable, which is the most important feature of a method teaching book. For example, to describe the concept of the magic loop, the author described the whole process of how the loop is formed, and showed a real case to make it clear how the loop is used. Here, there is no worry that you can't learn the method thoroughly. You can just follow the author's lead. Besides, the author considered about all types of people, including the deaf mute, and gave corresponding solutions. The author also thought of every situation and all kinds of goals, and give each of them an example. To sum up, it is an accessible book.
And the drawback of this book is also very clear: repetitions. Actually, after reading, I have the feeling that I can rewrite the whole book into one chapter. The main idea is mentioned again and again. And the most obvious difference of each chapter is that in each chapter, different examples are given. Read whichever chapter of the book, and you will get the whole point. Besides, the author used lots of words on unimportant things. For example, he spent about one chapter to tell the reader how magical the loop is while I am only eager to know what the loop is. Anyway, I understand that the author may be afraid that readers could not get him. And some readers just need such careful expression to understand a comprehensive idea.
All in all, The Magic Loop is worth reading since every one of us will encounter difficult times and weak moments. The book gives us a wonderful method to deal with our weaknesses and get rid of bad habits more easily in a simple way. With the magic loop, you will find yourself more powerful, and you will be more confidence because you have a magical method---the magic loop.
