In my opinion, Wuthering Heights is a story of growth and betrayal.
Growing up may mean a betrayal of the innocent and beautiful childhood,
a compromise of the evil and ugly adult world. When Catherine had
realized that Heathcliff, whose origins were unknown and had nothing,
was not the right person to marry. She said very clearly, "Marry
Heathcliff and I have my identity." He rejected Catherine's reasons
for the adult world, in her mind Catherine was always the one who went
around with him, and he also wanted the head of The Little Kaixin, his
logic was very simple, if there was no Catherine in heaven, then heaven
was hell, if there was Catherine in hell, hell was his paradise. So
after losing Catherine, Heathcliff, who felt down in his heart, focused
on only one thing, to completely destroy the ugly world that was no
longer Catherine. Heathcliff genuinely fell in love with Catherine, but
was not recognized for her worldly prejudices and disparities in social
status. Catherine also chose the young master Linton of Thrush Villa.
This was followed by a series of revenge All the harm one has suffered
must be returned to the perpetrator. He was once discriminated against
because he had no money, so he devoured the discriminator's property
step by step. He was once ridiculed for his humble status, so step by
step he stripped the ridiculer of his status. If they can't pay it
back, they will ask their children to pay it back. Many of the chapters
focused on Heathcliff's machinations, which may have given rise to his
later remorse. Everything went according to his plan, and his purpose
was achieved. However, Heathcliff was not happy. He thought the mad
revenge was enough to soothe his heart. But after the revenge was
successful, he found that the only thing that could make him happy was
Catherine. In fact, after understanding this, Heathcliff was the most
painful, because Catherine was dead.
