The Beginning of Chinese Civilization is a preliminary summary of Mr. Li
Ji's research achievements on ancient Chinese civilization and culture
from 1954 to 1972, which shows the development of Mr. Li's academic
thoughts and views. Fifty beautiful pictures are included in the front
of the book, some of which are published in Chinese for the first time.
There are eight chapters in the book, the first of which, The Beginning
of Chinese Civilization, explores the origin of Chinese civilization on
the basis of the results of excavation in the Yin Ruins, especially the
research on the pottery and bronze wares in the Yin Ruins. On the basis
of affirming the importance of the Anyang excavation to Chinese history,
the other articles have a new understanding of the ancient culture and
the primitive nature of Chinese culture. Especially in the collection,
selection, arrangement of ancient historical materials and the writing
of ancient history and other aspects put forward pertinent suggestions,
put forward the reconstruction of China's ancient history.
