In fact, this is the second time that I read this novel. The first time was in the summer vacation after the college entrance examination. I saw the Chinese version. This time, I saw the English version, which gave me a new experience of this novel. When I read it in Chinese, it is mixed with the translator's feelings, and the description is full of imagination and details. But in my opinion, it is just a fishing story. When I read it, I felt it was a grandiose description and the old man had experienced many hardships at sea. When watching the English version, I really felt the old man's thoughts and feelings at sea, communicating with the soul of big fish, fighting with sharks, and longing for his own life at a time of despair. But when I saw the old man catch a female fish and another male fish accompany her, I would ask, does the fish actually have feelings, and will they be sad when they can't save their lover? But when the old man was drifting on the sea alone, a sea bird flew to his side. How happy he was. He longed for friends and someone to be with him. He missed the boy most. I was deeply moved by their friendship. When the old man could not catch fish and was laughed at by others, he would accompany him regardless of the opposition of his family. He brought bread and coffee for him every day. It was a light in the sad life of the old man, When the old man finally returned to the town and lay down in bed exhausted to sleep, he was the only one who cared about the safety of the old man and the pain he had experienced for so many days. He shed tears all the time. In contrast, other people were only concerned about the remains of big fish. The most commendable thing is the old man's deadly struggle with the big fish, the shark, the sea and himself. He wants to win, to win over the big fish, to win over life. He does not admit defeat. He must firmly hold his destiny in his own hands. Even if he is over 50, I can feel the vigorous vitality in him! I hope I can think of the old man and the sea in his heart when I want to give up in the future.
