The Old Man and the Sea mainly tells a story about an old man named Santiago. At the beginning of the story, there are a sea of plot about the old man and a little boy. Although they are good friends, the boy is extremely lucky and the old man is not, who hasn’t caught a fish for more than 80 days. However, the boy still wants to learn more from the old man. One day, the old man decides to fish and he has made a full preparation. Fortunately he catches a specially huge fish. Nevertheless the fish is so big that it costs the old man two days to kill it. During this time, he fights against the big fish alone without water, food, weapon and assistant. In my opinion, the old man is full of courage and strength. Then unfortunately plenty of sharks come to rob and eat the big fish after smelling the taste of his blood. So the old man begins to fight with these sharks over and over again. At the end, the old man goes back to his home dragging a pair of fish bones. He lies on the bed, and what the only thing he could do is recalling the wonderful old days in his dream. 

Then I want to share my views and feelings after reading this book. For starts, one of the biggest features of this book is--simplicity. As we can see, there is no flowery language at all in the book. What we can see is only the most simple description. After that, what touches me most is the spirit of the old man, such as: brave and persistent. Even though his enemies include the huge fish and amounts of sharks, he never fears or wants to give up. Until now, these spirit is still valuable and admirable. Because there are so many difficulties in our study and life too, probably the most effective way to overcome them is to be brave and persistent.
