Jane Eyre is a classic work in the history of English literature. After
its publication in October 1847, the novel has been continuously
reprinted. The unknown author Charlotte Bronte has entered the ranks of
famous British novelists. This book tells the story of the heroine Jane
Eyre experienced all kinds of misfortunes since she was a child and the
trials she experienced as an adult, and finally understood the truth and
harvested real happiness. I like Jane Eyre very much. Her changes and
her personality can shock people's hearts. The story has two main
themes, one is faith and the other is love. I can't deny that this novel
is mainly about love, but maybe for me, its significance is not so
significant. Jane Eyre is a woman with a normal weak human nature, not
as described in most book reviews: "The praises getting rid of all
old customs and prejudices and successfully shaping the image of a woman
who dares to resist and strive for freedom and equality." Maybe
there are some reasonable arguments, but they probably misread the
point. Jane has been treated differently from her peers since she was a
child. Not only is she materially poor, but also Jane's heart is very
barren. She has been treated, insulted and despised. All this created
Jane Eyre's strong revenge and unyielding personality. Her idea at that
time was: "If someone treats you well, you treat others well. This
is what I have always hoped to do. If we are beaten for no reason, we
will fight back fiercely. I firmly believe that we should do that."
In addition, she believes that poverty is synonymous with depravity,
which shows how humble she is in her heart, and even her own poverty is
regarded as depravity. We can understand her wrong values at that time.
The people around him treated him in the cruelest way, which was a test.
Including what she later faced at Lowood School, Mr. Brockhurst blamed
Jane Eyre with false truth, which was also a kind of training. No one is
born with perfect humanity, and the author depicts Jane Eyre's most real
side through her childhood. Jane Eyre heard and thought for the first
time that faith was attributed to Helen Pence and Miss Temple, who
influenced Jane Eyre's life with their words and deeds, even their own
lives. It was because of the change in faith that when she visited the
critically ill Aunt Reed, her hatred for her aunt had completely
disappeared, which was the author's expression of her faith. She forgave
Aunt Reed, who was still resentful of her before she died. I think Jane
Eyre's tenacious personality has always been there, but the psychology
generated by her sins has been overcome by faith. The second point is
Rochester. Rochester was saved not because of the brief case, but
because God saved him. The reason Rochester's pain is not the blow of a
failed marriage, but the real condemnation of his own sin. He also
redeemed himself in various ways, such as adopting little Adela and
sending someone to take care of his crazy wife for many years. You can
see Rochester. He is a sinner who has committed many crimes. Thornfield
House has another name, "Thorny Land" - evil. Jane Eyre fell
in love with Rochester and issued the most classic love declaration on
page 240 of the novel. This seemingly beautiful and perfect love by
outsiders has terrible motives: Rochester regards his love with Jane as
his redemption, and Jane did not pay attention to the suspicious events
that happened repeatedly in Thornfield. Treat love as an idol. Such love
could not have been achieved by God in the end, so Rochester's sins at
the wedding were completely exposed. Is this terrible? Yes, it's
terrible. Rochester publicly admitted his unbearable past and his sins
to everyone, including Jane Eyre. However, from his words, he had no
intention to repent. Encountering Jane Eyre's marriage was therefore
charged with bigamy. But Rochester believes that his approach is
reasonable and completely humane, and that he has the right to marry
another woman, which is self-deception. Jane Eyre seemed to have been
splashed with a basin of water and woke up, but she couldn't help but be
a little confused. At the moment she left Thornfield, she once wanted to
go back and become the savior of the painful Rochester, which was still
a wrong idea. She should make God her savior. When the Holy Spirit
guided her through the words in the Bible, she obeyed and did. Finally,
Rochester lost everything in a fire. His crazy wife died. Wealth, status
and other things that had added glory to him have left him, and even his
body was disabled. What else does he have? Even he thinks that he is
blind, disabled and a loser. But at this moment, he repented because he
was accepted by God. At this time, Jane Eyre had carried her
inheritance and recognized her long-lost cousin (not the Reed family),
and really became an independent woman. But she came back to him
regardless of her past. This is true love! Rochester also admitted that
he was a person who needed to be redeemed by God. Through a fire, God
completely removed the obstacles to their secular concept of marriage,
and they also recognized each other and accepted each other. Jane is
independent not only in human property, but also in faith and
personality. I would also like to mention that this book is called a
masterpiece because the author Bronte's writing is very beautiful. There
are no stacks of gorgeous words or useless repetration, but it just
catches people's psychology. Moreover, the most intoxicating part of
this book is the description of psychological activities and the
description of the characters. The first-person narrative can also allow
us to have a deeper understanding of the heroine's inner struggle and
bring endless aftertaste.
