Jane Eyre lived in an age when men were superior to women. She had no
powerful family behind her and no one could become her to rely on. She
had been a lonely girl since childhood, and had been fostered in her
uncle's home suffering from the cold eyes and bullying of her aunt's
family. Later she was sent to a semi-charity boarding school by her aunt
where she was ostracized and bullied. Because of the knowledge
accumulated from her studies Jane Eyre was lucky enough to become a
teacher in the school and spent the most peaceful eight years of her
life there. Later her best mentor and friend Miss Tambor left Lowood
School because she got married.Jane Eyre, who had been living a quiet
and peaceful life, began to think about her "desire to goto a wider
world and pursue the true meaning of life!".With her rich
experience as a teacher at school and the open mind which reading had
given her she soon got her first job outside the Waldas governess at
Thornfield Hall.Through readingJane Eyre realized her independence in
life and successfully took the first step in her life.It also gave her
greater courage to face the unfamiliar environment and the confidence to
look for a wider world.Reading can make our mind become more openbut
