Knowing the writer Katherine Mansfield was purely accidental. No doubt seeing this name while browsing the shelves at the library, and noticing it simply because her surname is the same as Austen's novel Mansfield Park.

I didn’t want to read these twenty short stories intermittently, but found that I was moved by some stories, and the one that moved me the most was the green and pure love between young men and women, just like "A Page in the Picture Album" It's the same as the painter's love. "Childish but Natural" is not a happy ending, but the love between the hero and heroine in it really makes me envious: this kind of love only belongs to books

Other novels also have their own characteristics. The mood of the music teacher in "Singing Lesson" is completely influenced by the fiancé's telegram, but the poor students are more or less influenced by the teacher. The introduction to the article "The Fly" explains that the old man relieved the distress in his heart by drowning the flies. I think that when the old man tried to drown the fly with ink again and again, he actually hoped that the fly would survive. When he did this, he compared the fly to himself, and hoped that he could still persevere after encountering hardships.

After reading this collection of novels, I admire the author's writing skills very much. She knows how to make a novel shocking at the end. In the article "Happiness", the heroine couldn't help lamenting how perfect her life was at the beginning, but at the end, she found that her husband had already had an affair with the girlfriend she just met and thought she had a soul sympathy with her. She walked to the window, looked at the pear tree her girlfriend praised frequently, and found that the tree was like this, she didn't know what kind of mood she was in. At the end of "Toy House", the sentence "I saw that little light" whispered by my sister made me feel indescribably sad.

Of all the novels, probably my favorite is "The Two Daughters of the Late Colonel." Although the phenomenon of "old girls" has appeared in European and American countries, I secretly think that Britain is a country rich in "old girls". This novel tells the story of two old girls. Their mother died young, and their father kept them under strict supervision, so that they had no in-depth communication with any man except the pastor. This is also an important reason why they have never been married. After their father's illness, they became more bound by their father. Taking care of their father and not making him angry is the main task of their lives. After their father died, they still dare not go to his room in the morning (not to bother his father in the morning was an unwritten rule when he was alive), and when they heard a street performer passing by nearby, their first reaction was still to rush the performer Let's go, don't let him quarrel with his father and make him angry. The most interesting part of the story is that although the sisters dislike the servant at home, they don't know whether to fire her. At the end of the story, the two sisters seem to be tired of the closed, depressive, and monotonous life these years, and want to escape from this life. The two sisters opened their mouths at the same time and wanted to talk about their teaching methods, but in the end they ended the conversation with "I forgot what I was going to say just now". Did they really forget? I don't think so. It's not that they don't want to live a freer and more colorful life, but the pursuit of this kind of life requires courage and change, and they have been defeated by this idea before they take action. I see myself and many people around me in this story.
