The Old Man and The
"The Old man and the Sea" this book I read when I was in primary school, the feeling was that the old man was poor and brave, but also very strong. Ten years later, when I was in college, I read the book again and had a different perception.
In the book, the old man made a living by fishing. He did not give up his life even in the most difficult times, but walked into the stormy sea. In one's life, it is inevitable to encounter many difficulties and setbacks, but as long as we never give up, we can overcome the suffering, even in the storm has been scarred. At no time should one indulge in the joy of victory. Life, like the sea, can experience waves at any time. Time passes, if we are faced with adversity or a blow from an opponent, we have been old, have lost any hope or chance of victory, and the glory of the past is gone. That's true for most of us.
When Hemingway portrays the characters in the novel, he seems to be describing a virtual self. He mirrors the inner world of the characters in the novel with his own feelings in real life. This shows that he does not bow to life, and he always keeps a smile on life, always strides forward, always against his fate. The path of this person's life will continue to meandering forward.
Facing the distress of life, Santiago, the protagonist of The Old Man and the Sea, does not give up hope. His hale and hearty state makes readers realize that he is preparing for a "battle", and the object of the battle is the "life" he is facing. In this context, in the face of Santiago's failure, we are not sorry, pity, but for the hero's admiration and emotion, perhaps, in real life, we all lack the spirit and courage of Santiago.
Although the protagonist of the old fisherman Santiago in the face of heavy blows, seem ed to have walked into the dilemma. However, the old man still d id not yield to this, d id not bow to the fate, a tall tough man image on the paper. The old man still held on and went out to sea with all his might and caught a big fish. However, the big fish was swallowed by the shark, leaving the old man only a pair of fish bones. When the old man faced this situation, he tried to find his fighting spirit. The old man learned the truth after many setbacks, but he still believed in himself, still believed in fearlessness and perseverance. The old man insisted that once the fighting was over, all the problems would be solved, all the worries and frustrations would be resolved. He just needs to pick up the pieces in a calm mood and still find a graceful life.
As a tragic hero, Santiago will never be defeated in spirit, his noble qualities and ideals will never be annihilated by the darkness of The Times, he relied on his own hands, finally achieved victory.
