himself. The Old Man and the Sea is a short story written by Ernest
Hemingway in Cuba in 1951. Just as he said, people are not born to be
defeated. People can be destroyed, but not defeated. The short story
"The Old Man and the Sea" revolves around the spirit of
"tough man" to describe the tenacious struggle of the old
Cuban fisherman Saint Martin. "The Old Man and the Sea"
describes the old man's two struggles with fish, the first with an
18-foot, 1,500-pound marlin and the second with one shark after another.
The plot twists and turns as the frail old man goes 84 days without
catching a fish, but he doesn't give up. Finally, on the 85th day, he
caught a big marlin. But the process of conquering the big marlin is
also very painful, he fought with the big marlin for two whole days and
two nights, a small fishing boat was a big marlin towed to the sea.
Despite having no food, no water, no assistants, and little weaponry, he
clung to the rope. He was strong and fighting. In the end, he won.
