Book Review: "Jane E

Jane Eyre  by Charlotte Bronte is one of the best books I have ever read. With a rural 19th-century England setting, Bronte has created a fictional account of the early life of Jane Eyre, which every reader can not help but enjoy. In this novel, we get to recognize the conflicts between love and independence, conscience and passion, and the struggle of a young girl and woman to maintain her self-esteem. These were all pioneering themes in the patriarchal society of Victorian England in the  1800 s.

Jane Eyre is a novel by British woman writer Charlotte Bronte which was initially published in 1847. Charlotte Brontë published her work under the pseudonym Currer Bell; which is a male name, for nobody respected and valued woman writers in England in that period. Yet, later on, the book began to be published under Charlotte Brontë’s name.

The novel tells the story of Jane Eyre, an orphan girl whose parents died at a young age and who was abused in her aunt's home before being sent by her aunt to the Lowood School. She survives the harsh conditions at Lowood, but she is resilient. Two years after graduating, Jane was hired to earn a living as a governess. The master, Rochester, was melancholy and moody, but after a longer encounter, Jane found Rochester to be kind-hearted, upright and stalwart, and gradually developed feelings for him. When they are married in a church, Jane is distressed to discover that Rochester has a crazy wife, Bertha Antoinette Mason. Jane leaves in grief. Later, her uncle John Eyre, from whom she had been separated for many years, died after a long illness and bequeathed her a large fortune. Unable to forget her love for Rochester, she returns to her old home, only to learn that a few months earlier the madwoman had died in an arson attack and that Rochester had been smashed out of one eye trying to save her, and that the other eye was inflamed and blind. Jane immediately went to him to tell him how she felt about him, and the two of them were finally united. Rochester later had one eye cured in London and had a boy with Jane Eyre.

Jane Eyre's quest for life in Jane Eyre has two basic themes: a passionate, fanciful, defiant and persevering spirit; and a desire for freedom and happiness on earth and the pursuit of a higher spiritual realm. The theme of this novel is the successful portrayal of a woman who is not content with the status quo, who is not willing to be humiliated, and who dares to fight through the uneven life experiences of an orphan girl, reflecting the honestly confessed cries and reproaches of an ordinary heart, the longing of a small-written person to become an uppercase person.

From the get-go, Jane seems to be the only character in Charlotte Brontë’s ‘ Jane Eyre ’ that seeks something much more than the mere routines of life, and she shows a such desire from the first pages of the book – around when she’s young and about ten years old. Given Jane starts out being headstrong and a little sassy, I wouldn’t blame her too much because she’s just a smart and active little girl trying to protect herself over at Gateshead, a place where she’s surrounded by people who are supposed to be her family but are not.

Jane’s childhood rebellion, however, is never out of place. And by rough estimation, those youthful angsts indicate her disagreement with her current life treated with biases and lies, and later, we see the extent of this mentality to society and the state of affairs therein. Jane is, by description, a self-reformer interested in finding that one true purpose in life. She learns tremendously through life – and in all necessary disciplines enough to refine herself into the person she wants to be. Morals and values through religion. People relations and handling skills through experiences with terrible and as well good and kind people she’s met. In the end, Jane will pick bits and pieces of the core things that form her true purpose and piece them together. She’s happy at last because, against society’s pretentious family, she discovers her voice and finds her personality.

Jane Eyre   has numerous strengths which have made it a classical piece of literature. These strong points include writing in the first person to get close to readers and a vivid portrayal of conscience versus passion. The descriptions of people and especially nature are excellent in this book, You definitely won't want to put this book down, because there are so many unexpected events in the plot.  Jane Eyre is one of the most crucial books which were written via adhering to Romanticist movement. It has not lost its popularity for years and it is still read and appreciated by the readers. All human emotions such as happiness, sorrow, anger, fear, hate, and pity are also masterfully brought to life in this book.
