读后感
The book “Jane Eyre” talks about a story of a girl who was sent to a school by her aunt and how she grew up and what she had experienced. For me, I couldn’t conceal and hide my affection toward Jane Eyre, for I am very fond of her independence and tough.
Charlotte Bronte, the author of “Jane Eyre”, is gentle, pure, and likes to pursue some beautiful things. Although her family was poor, she lost her mother's love from childhood. She is short and her appearance is not outstanding, it may be such a kind of inferiority complex in her soul, which is reflected in her with a very sensitive self-esteem. Jane Eyre is also an unattractive, short woman, but she has extremely strong self-esteem.
In the story, Jane Eyre lost her parents when she was young. As a result, she had to live with her aunt’ s family because her uncle was also dead. Of course, it was painful to live with whom hated her and had no connection in blood with her. Her aunt disliked her, so she indulged her son and Jane Eyre was bullied. The worst thing her aunt had done was locked Jane Eyre in a room her uncle used to sleep before his death. Then, Jane Eyre was sent to Lowood charity school where was a bad school with mean and vicious teachers except Miss Maria Temple. Also, Jane Eyre had a lovely friend Helen Burns as her first and best friend. The situation in the school was hard and difficult for she ate badly and use badly. However, she was alive and found a job as a tutor that she got rid of the school and her aunt. She depended on herself to survive in that period, learnt a lot and earned a living.
Jane was also brave, self-respecting and rational. When teaching for Edward Fairfax Rochester’ s daughter, she found herself falling in love with Rochester. They were in different classes and the age between them was also large. At that time, it was not be blessed if they got married. But Jane was brave to chase her love and express her feeling to Rochester. Rochester also loved Jane. Unluckily, Rochester was revealed that he had married with a mad woman. Out of her dignity, Jane decided to cancel the wedding and left Rochester. In my opinion, she was so brave and decisive. Once she knew Rochester had lied her, though she still loved him, she chose to end the relationship.
Jane was kind, too. Unable to forget her love for Rochester, she returned to the place where Rochester lived, only to know that a crazy woman died of arson a few months ago and Rochester was shot out of one eye to save her, and the other eye became inflamed and could not see. Then, Jane went to tell him her love at once, and they finally got married. Jane’ s love was pure. Although Rochester was disabled, Jane still loved him. Her love was for Rochester’ s soul, not for his appearance, asset and status.
As far as I am concerned, Rochester was unlucky with a warm heart. He had no choice and was lied to marry a mad woman. He could have left the mad woman alone, because a mad woman can also kill herself with violent action. On the contrary, he told servant to take care of her and make her alive. Moreover, when there was a fire, he stood up to save the life of the mad woman ——her wife in law, though he failed. He bore many bad things himself for years, and those bad things had taken his confidence on chasing his longings including Jane Eyre. I sympathize him and I am happy that he can live happily with Jane Eyre, his love, and had their baby in the end.
From this long story, I had learnt a lot. “Jane Eyre” tells me the true meaning of life: even if you are not rich, you should live with dignity, not bow to difficulties and not yield to adversity. We cannot guarantee equality everywhere in life. Perhaps, when we fail, we will also hear some ridicule, but don't let these setbacks block our progress. No one can be smooth; we all will meet failure. We should treat failure correctly, and strive to move towards the goal optimistically. Only by facing everything optimistically, can we sum up our experience and lessons to strive for success in the next action. I remember that once I lost in the competition, and suddenly remembered the story of Jane Eyre. In the face of this failure, I learned a lesson and won in the subsequent competition. All the joy and happiness cannot be separated from the optimism and confidence after the failure. Failure and frustration are inevitable, but we can use sunshine, optimism and self-confidence to eliminate our worries. Also, we can encourage and urge ourselves not to be afraid of difficulties, but to move forward in a higher and farther direction. Only in this way can we exercise ourselves and approach higher achievements, because the power of optimism and self-confidence is endless and effective, and optimism is an indispensable excellent quality behind a successful person.
