Jane Eyre is a novel written by Charlotte Bronte, an English female writer. It is an autobiographical work.

The novel tells the story of Jane Eyre, an orphan girl, whose parents died when she was young, and who was placed in foster care at her aunt's house and suffered abuse. She was later sent to Lowood School by her aunt. Two years after graduation, Jane applied to earn a living as a governess. The host Rochester is moody and temperamental.  However, after a long time of contact, Jane finds that Rochester is kind-hearted, upright and resolute, and gradually develops feelings for him.  When they are married in church, Jane is distressed to discover that Rochester has a mad wife -- Bertha Antoinette Mason.  Jane left sadly.  Her estranged uncle John Eyre died of illness and bequeathed her a large fortune. Later, she returned to the site, only to learn that the mad woman had set fire to it a few months earlier. Rochester, trying to save her, suffered an eye injury. Jane immediately poured out her heart to him, and the two of them finally married. Finally, Rochester had an eye repaired in London and had a boy with Jane Eyre.

When the author wrote Jane Eyre, Britain was already the world's leading industrial power. However, the status of British women has not changed and still in a subordinate position. The goal of a woman's life is to marry into a rich family. The only career option for women is to be a good wife and mother. "Jane Eyre" was written under the passive background of fierce attacks by men on women who work as writers.

The heroine Jane is a strong, rigid and flexible, independent, positive and enterprising woman. She was of humble birth and plain appearance, but she did not feel inferior to it. She has a tenacious life force and never bows to fate. Finally, she had the beatific life she wanted. Jane Eyre shows the image of today's new women: self - esteem, self - reliance and self - improvement. She has a persistent pursuit of her own personality, emotion, life and choice.

The novel mainly describes the love between Jane and Rochester. Jane Eyre's view of love deepened her personality. She believes that love should be based on spiritual equality rather than social status, wealth or appearance. Only men and women really love each other can they get happiness. She did not give up the pursuit of happiness because of her servant status. Her love was pure and noble, and she disdained Rochester's wealth. For Rochester, Jane Eyre's simple, kind and independent personality revived his pursuit and yearning for life, so that he could sincerely express his wish and determination in front of Jane. Jane Eyre sympathized with Rochester's unfortunate fate and believed that his mistake was caused by objective circumstances. In spite of his ugly appearance and later bankruptcy and disability, she saw his inner beauty and pitiful fate, so she finally married him. The novel criticizes the money - based view of marriage and love, and always describes the love between Jane Eyre and Rochester as a complete tacit understanding of thought, talent, quality and spirit.

Jane Eyre was a woman who was unwilling to endure social oppression and had the courage to pursue personal happiness. No matter her poor and low social status, or her drifting life experience, it is the true portrayal of the life of the lower class people in Britain at that time. The author can put a new woman from the lower class of society in the position of the hero of the novel, and praise the hero's tenacious struggle against oppression and social prejudice, for the independent personality and dignity, and for the pursuit of a happy life, which is commendable in the literature works at that time.

Any excellent work can people peep out the shadow of the author, and Jane Eyre is no exception. A large number of details in the novel can be confirmed from the author's life experience. What Charlotte Bronte tries to show you in Jane Eyre is also the pursuit of female independence and equality with men. Jane Eyre's view of life is closely related to Charlotte's life experience. Unhappy childhood, working as a governess in a rich family to earn a living, falling in love with a married man, leaving to start a new life... Jane Eyre's pursuit of freedom and the maintenance of dignity were not only the requirements of the emerging bourgeoisie after the industrial Revolution, but also the wise choices made by women in the new era when faced with difficult difficulties.

Jane Eyre is a realistic novel with strong romantic color and autobiographical color. The heroine's life pursuit in Jane Eyre has two basic melodies: full of passion, fantasy, resistance and perseverance; The desire for human freedom and happiness and the pursuit of a higher spiritual realm. Through the rough and uneven life experience of the orphan girl, the novel successfully creates the image of a woman who is uncomfortable with the status quo and dares to fight, reflecting the honest confessions of an ordinary heart.
