Jane Eyre

In my opinion, Jane Eyre  is a great work, it made me understand what is good and evil, beauty and ugliness, and learned how to be better, and the protagonist Jane Eyre is an example for me to study. She is clever, strong, and assertive. She has experienced many ups and downs, which can be called extremely unfortunate, but she has never given in to fate, and I believe that every difficulty she faces is accompanied by a sense of fear that she will definitely overcome it.

An orphan girl, Jane Eyre, was adopted by her uncle when she was a child, and her aunt hated her very much, and after her uncle's death, she sent her as a minor child to a church school, where she was left to fend for herself.

A few years later, at the age of about eighteen, she left Purgatory School to work as a governess in a manor house. There she fell in love with the master of the house, Mr. Rochester. And just as the two were about to be married, they discovered that the man actually had a wife, who was still mad, and was locked up in the castle, where she lived every day.

So, she sadly left and was taken in by a family of three brothers and sisters. She became a teacher in a modest temporary school, incognito, but the eldest of the three siblings discovered her secret, it turned out they were cousins and had received a large inheritance from a dead relative. Finding family affection and having wealth, Jane Eyre was worried about Mr. Rochester and quietly returned to the manor, only to find Mr. Rochester injured and blinded by his mad wife's act of setting fire to the house, and the castle in ruins.

Finally, Jane Eyre returned to Mr. Rochester, who was already single and uninhibited, and they dropped everything and lived happily ever after.

The protagonist of the story, Jane Ai, is poor, thin and average looking, she is not cute, but she yearns for freedom, longs for respect and has a unique perspective on life. She has a kind nature. Although her aunt had treated her excessively, when she was dying, Jane put aside her resentment and chose to forgive.

She dares to court and has her own idea of love. St. John's proposal to her was only for his Christian cause, not true love. Faced with a crippled sweetheart, Rochester, she expresses her thoughts forcefully—Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little, I am soulless and heartless?—— you think wrong!—— I have as much soul as you, —— and full as much heart! (And if God had gifted me with some beauty and much wealth, I should have made it as hard for you to leave me, as it is now for me to leave you. I am not talking you now through the medium of custom, conventionalities, nor even of mortal flesh):—— it is my spirit that addresses your spirit; just as if both had passed the grave, and we stood at God's feet, equal, —— as we are! "Do you think I can stay to become nothing to you? Do you think I am an automaton?--a machine without feelings? and can bear to have my morsel of bread snatched from my lips, and my drop of living water dashed from my cup? Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little, I am soulless and heartless? You think wrong!--I have as much soul as you,--and full as much heart! And if God had gifted me with some beauty and much wealth, I should have made it as hard for you to leave me, as it is now for me to leave you. I am not talking to you now through the medium of custom, conventionalities, nor even of mortal flesh;--it is my spirit that addresses your spirit; just as if both had passed through the grave, and we stood at God's feet, equal,--as we are!

The author borrowed Jane Eyre's mouth and said what she wanted to say. At that time, society still discriminated against women, and even when she published her works, the author carefully chose a male pseudonym because of the losses she had suffered and the insults she had been subjected to, because "writing is not a profession for women".

"We are all equal" is not only the voice of Jane Eyre, but also that of the author, who is a defender of women's rights. In this work, almost all women are equal. This reflects the author's pursuit of equality and strong desire, which is also the need of society at that time. It can be said that Bertha is Jane Eyre, she is another personality of Jane Eyre, and in the story she promotes and fulfils all of Jane Eyre's wishes. What is impossible for women in reality, the author has achieved in her works.

Later generations have given the novel mixed reviews, but in the society of "male superiority and female inferiority" of that time, it was indeed an attack. In Jane Eyre---- we can indeed discover a shining light, not humble and modest, but kind in nature. The equality, freedom and dignity she sought is what we still seek today and will continue to seek in the future. Jane Eyre is not beautiful, but her challenging and defiant personality makes her full of charm, her mind is always clear and she does not bow to fate, this is the truth Jane Eyre gave me.
